My name is Dietrich van Gobbel.
I was born in Suriname but grew up in Aruba and now live in the Netherlands. I have both a Surinamese and Dutch passport. Two nationalities, but three different cultures. Complicated? Let me explain.
In my opinion, identity is not just a formal introduction written on paper. It's the music genre you listen to, which may change over the years. It's the values and norms passed down from generation to generation, the languages you speak, the people who make you feel at home, and there are countless perspectives from which the concept of "identity" can be viewed. Therefore, in my opinion, identity is not linear but constantly evolving.
Lastly, I derive a lot of energy from working on personal projects, but I also find it important to have variety.
